December 19th – Film Series – Julie and Julia

by Slow Food Cape Cod on December 13, 2009

Main Street Gourmet in Orleans,  has been showing a series of food films. Lets meet and  share a snack, sip on goodies before the film, as well as after, with discussion about the film and other newsworthy food issues.   Since I somehow did not make it to the theaters to watch my icon Julia Child, I thought this would be a fun way to take in the film and get together with other Slow Food members. Space is limited, BYOC (bring your own chair), and any goodies you would like to enjoy for the movie. There is no charge for this event – making it perfect for the holiday season…

Main Street Gourmet is an elegant and resourceful retail kitchen shop for the aspiring and weathered gourmet chefs alike. Slow Food Cape Cod has a decorated Gingerbread House on display, see if you can figure out which one it is, and cast your vote.

Movie: Amy Adams stars in this truth-inspired tale as Julie Powell, a disenchanted government secretary who decides to enliven her uneventful life by cooking all 524 recipes outlined in Julia Child’s culinary classic Mastering the Art of French Cooking.  Based on Powells’s book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, director Nora Ephron’s heartwarming dramedy also stars Meryl Streep as legendary chef Child.
