Slow Food is a global, non-profit, organization, founded by Carlo Petrini in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life. Today, we have over 85,000 members in 132 countries. Slow Food is an idea, a way of living and a way of eating. We are a grassroots group who’s members around the world link the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment.
We form a united vision of a global food system based on the principles of good, clean and fair. Good in that the food we eat brings pleasure to the senses, is enjoyed at the tabel and is healthy for our bodies. Our food should be producted in a clean manner, in a sustainable way that is not harmful to the environment, or to the workers that create it, and we should pay a fair price for its production, and ensure that all are compensated for their labor.
